The student team of Ivana Andjelic, Nemanja Kocic and Natalija Usendic has shared with us their proposed solution for the Schindler Award 2011 contest for the Olympic Park in Berlin. Additional images and text are available after the break.

Concept. network. was established on the ideas from the architectural point of view, as well as on philosophical views about the user of the park. One of the AIMS was the realization of sense of belonging through clearly built structure and the nature in the conflict. Creating “GREEN CONNECTION” of the most densely forest to the most built part of park only supported the idea of GRID PATHS which blend into the nature, making it available to everyone.

Grid geometry was designed with reviewing existing main directions on the location, as well as with the idea of supporting function of the Olympic Stadium. The concept is using the configuration of the terrain as one of the advantages.

Following isometry of court, there were imposed pedestrian PATHS which enable the movement of everyone and everywhere, but also represent the type of transition between buildings and nature. MEGA STRUCTURES give identity to the entire park, and they give user the sense of belonging with the possibility of a clear orientation: object- nature open-closed. Inside of mega structures grid complexes itself and all the functions are organized on the basis of the matrix, and there are a hotel, tennis courts, shopping center, hockey. Grid matrix is reflected on the ROOF, where inside of network appear glass holes or green atrium, allowing internal sunbathe of the content.
